Slash your grocery bills! Start saving money today with the best rebate and cash back apps for groceries.
One of my favorite things about using grocery rebate apps is you can use all the different apps to collect multiples rebates. Plus, sometimes multiple apps have rebates on the same items so you can collect twice!
When using apps to save money on your grocery bill, browse through the apps to see what offers are available while you are compiling your grocery list. That way you don’t forget to buy something that had a great deal!

Best Grocery Store Rebate Apps
Grocery rebate apps are like using coupons, but without having to clip them.
There are two main types of apps for saving money on groceries:
- Rebate apps that give you cash back on purchases
- Money savings apps that reduce your total before you check out.
Rebate apps earn you cash back after you’ve finished shopping. Money saving apps reduce your total before you leave the store.
Checkout 51 Grocery Rebate App
How Checkout 51 Works: Once you open the app, you’ll see all the available offers. Some offers are specific to certain stores, so you’ll want to filter the list to the store you’ll be shopping at. Select the rebates you want by tapping the plus icon. Once you’re back home from your grocery trip, upload your receipt to claim your rebates.
Pros: Checkout 51 has rebates for items you wouldn’t typically find coupons for like milk and produce.
Cons: The amount of rebates to choose from is limited.
How to redeem: Cash back can be redeemed via check (minimum $20).

Swagbucks cash back app
How to use Swagbucks to earn gift cards: While Swagbucks isn’t a grocery rebate app, you can redeem your Swagbucks earnings for gift cards to stores like Walmart as an alternate way to reduce your grocery bill! You can earn Swagbucks by getting cash back on online shopping, taking surveys, and more!
Pros: If you frequently shop online, you can earn cash back with Swagbucks quickly.
Cons: Some ways of earning Swagbucks are not worth the time and effort spent.
How to redeem: Swagbucks can be redeemed for Paypal cash or a large variety of gift cards.

Ibotta grocery rebate app
How to use Ibotta to earn cash back: Once you open the app, you’ll see all the available offers. You’ll want to filter the list down to the store you’ll be shopping at.
Some rebates will get added immediately when you select them, others require completing a small task to unlock the rebate. These tasks vary and include viewing a recipe, answering a question, or watching a short video clip.
When you complete your grocery trip, upload your receipt and claim your rebate. Some rebates may require scanning the item’s barcode.
Pros: There are tons of rebates for items you’ll actually use. Some rebates also allow for multiple redemptions, so you can stock up when you find a great offer.
Cons: It can take time to sort through all of the offers.
How to redeem: Cash back can be redeemed via Paypal or Venmo ($20 minimum).

Best Money Saving Apps For Groceries
In addition to rebate apps, there are apps that allow you to get discounts and coupons so you can save money on your grocery bill.
Save Money with Target Cartwheel
How to Use Target Cartwheel: Target’s Cartwheel is now located directly in the Target app. Search by category (and they have Cartwheel discounts on more than just groceries) and add the offers you are interested in. When checking out, show the cashier the barcode on your phone. All the discounts you selected will be automatically applied to your total.
Pros: Cartwheel discounts can be stacked with manufacturers coupons and the Red Card discount.
Cons: More of the grocery discounts are for Target’s Market Pantry item verus name brand products.
Your Grocery Chain’s app
Many grocery chains have their own app, offering views of their weekly ad and savings. In my local store’s app, I can view 200-300 manufacturer’s coupons and load them directly onto my store’s loyalty card.
A simple scan of my loyalty card applies all the discounts at checkout. No more clipping coupons!
Price Match with Walmart’s Savings Catcher App
Walmart’s Savings Catcher automatically compares the price you paid to the advertised prices of other stores in your area. Walmart matches the competitor’s price, and if you paid more at Walmart, they refund the difference back to you.
How to redeem: Cash back earned can be redeemed for Walmart e-gift cards.
Can you use multiple rebate apps?
Yes! One of the great thing about using these apps to save money is that you can use multiple apps to save even more.
On one grocery trip, I might save $5.00 through my grocery store’s app, earn $4 through Ibotta, and earn $1 from Checkout 51. When you use multiple apps, the savings adds up fast!
What is the best grocery rebate app?
Ibotta is the best grocery rebate app. They seem to have the greatest selection of rebates (on items you’ll actually use) and bonuses that help the cash back add up faster.
Start saving money on groceries
If you aren’t used to using an app to save money on your grocery bill, start small. Pick one app to start with. Then as you get used to using that app each week, you can add in another app to increase your savings!
